My work is inspired by my relationships with the people in my life and being raised in an environment where Buddhist philosophies are practiced. As an artist and individual, I am striving to cultivate myself and my mind in a healthy way, so when something happens in my life that I find difficult to face, my artwork is the method in which I fight the battles in my mind. These battles include the modern struggles of facing loneliness in an increasingly digital world and the issues of communication within relationships, and learning how to let go and move past these struggles. I have learned the importance of letting go to ease one’s pain, however I have also experienced how difficult it is to put that into practice.
With a painterly style of animation and illustration, I translate my experience into a simple visual language. Through creating my work, I am able to process my emotions and grow from them. Although my artwork is inspired by the specific events in my life, these emotional states are universal, and as an artist I have the ability to inspire others to reflect on their experiences and grow from them. My goal in creating my work is to not only bring peace to myself from the situations and people I have encountered, but also to bring a sense of peace and comfort to others.
